As I child I was taught by my mother that God gives each of us “Grace for the moment.” GRACE comes from the Greek word, “CHARIS,” which means: (1) unmerited divine assistance given to humans, gracious favor & blessing, help, goodness & goodwill (2) approval, mercy, privilege, (3) a charming, attractive trait, a pleasing appearance, (4) ease of movement (5) a sense of propriety, knowing what is “right.” (6) the quality of being considerate or thoughtful. And so, the meaning of my mother’s lesson to me is that God gives us unmerited, unexpected, extraordinary help in the moment or moments we find ourselves, our strengths, our faith lacking. Whether a moment of difficulty, distress, doubt or sorrow, joy, rest, happiness or sport….God gives us the “grace” we need to carry us through that point in our lives. Grace is a free gift given to us from The Divine, and its roots are sacrifice and love. (2 Corinthians 8:9) We are given grace because we are loved. Today I pray that each of us know and experience that needed “Grace for the moment,” and that we share it freely with everyone around us.

Grace, Peace & Love To You
