I spent Monday with a few of my colleagues participating in our annual Professional Development Seminar. The year’s focus: Positivity & Happiness. Our positive psychology keynote speaker offered some basic strategies for developing & maintaining a positive life outlook. One particular strategy jumped out at me…. “Argue against negative thoughts”….and it reminded me of a Bible verse ….Philippians 4:8…. “…Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.” I am convinced more now than ever before that Jesus is a pretty positive guy…and that His teachings have practical application in our everyday lives. We complicate things…..We convince ourselves that being spiritual, being a Christian, being a person of faith is complicated, hard and negative, but in fact….it isn’t any of those things! Faith in the positive is the path to peace. So….think happy thoughts today! Believe good things are happening! Enjoy the moment & anticipate that good things await ahead! Today will never come around again, so make the most of every moment, think happy thoughts, and know everything will be alright!
